Spairies and Sparinas

I talked with my shaman today. He's recently moved to the San Diego area, and he had heard I was moving back to Colorado. He told me not to make any major decisions or plans right now. He said the energy shifts are crazy, and I'll be rearranging my life all over again as soon as I decide to do something.

Yep, already happened. Moved my studio to the spa thinking that I was closing that up and focusing on doing only energy work. So, here I am in the back room throwing out everything I hadn't touched since moving here, purging supplies and paperwork, and just feeling such great relief to get rid of all that excess weight. And then I got a phone call...my agent got me a very big commission that should take me weeks. Well, there you go... So, instead of boxing up the remainder of the supplies, I'm setting up shop with less inventory. I'll be working late at nights and on weekends when clients are not being seen by any of us here.

The other major turning point here at RejuveNation LifeSpa is that three practitioners up and left this week. There were seven and now it's down to the four of us who do practical magic together. We're like Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman with their aunts in the kitchen stirring the pot. And afterwards, there's the winding down...

Dr. Alyssa, the head Sparina, also known as the Spa Ballerina
Dr. Alyssa is not only my daughter, but also the chiropractor and the mastermind behind the operations here. She's taught me so much about how great the fun can be while working. I used to work in her dad's chiropractic office, and I guarantee you there was never any live music, sex talks, or alcohol. But, since I was the one who first brought in the band while Alyssa was in Houston, I guess I should get credit for that genius moment.
sign behind the front desk

The Gratitude Cafe is the front room of the spa. It has tin ceilings, wooden flooring, one brick wall, and a huge front desk that spans the width of the room. This is where we have live music, sex talks with margaritas, and celebrations of all kinds. On August 13th, we're having a ribbon cutting with the Chamber of Commerce and then our open house with wine and appetizers. And, of course there will be beer.

Now, back to today... We girls were pow wowing in the Gratitude Cafe as only we can, putting together marketing strategies, events, and game plans of all kinds.

Here are the Spairies (otherwise known as spa fairies) Cindy Goldman on the left and Tammy Davis on the right.
Their brain cells are firing at top speed. Do you just love the fact that they're barefoot?

Cindy Goldman teaches yoga, operates tuning forks with the greatest of ease during sound therapy, and also does neuro-integration that changes the brain synapses so old patterns can be altered. Let me just say that I have used that service a whole lot and plan on doing it again and again and again. My brain needs lots of pattern altering. Just sayin'...

Tammy Davis is the woman with the potions. She does aromatherapy and concocts all kinds of magic in little bottles. The coolest thing that I've played with is her libido juice, as I call it, or sex in a bottle. The magic works like this. A woman puts on a couple of drops and walks around with it on, and the man who is most attracted to her will follow her anywhere. All other men won't even notice. I tried it, and it worked so well. Let's just say I was pleased with everyone's reactions, including those who weren't affected at all. It was a fascinating experiment. Tammy also is a life coach. Now, that's just been a gift from heaven dropped in my lap. I've pummelled her with questions that are crazy-making, and she's very quick to get to the meat of the matter and stop the crazy before it becomes mayor in my little town that resides between my ears.

And then there's me, the newest edition to the Sparinas and Spairies. I do energy work with the craziest thing ever -- energy. Yep, energy. I know a person's getting ready to set an appointment because I fill up with an energy that gets ready for them, and by the time they arrive for their appointment, it's bursting from my seams. Easy as that. I fill up and then out it flows once we're in the room together. Crazy, crazy, crazy... It heals, removes blockages that prevent people from doing what they want, clarifies purpose, balances male and female energies, and envelopes all in peace. I may be whipped after a session, but let me tell you, I feel good. I feel really good.

Me taking a picture of my name on the window
Nax Nok is an Indian tribal term for supernatural power, or she who makes magic happen. I got the name when a friend of mine and I were touring the American Indian Museum in NYC. He came across the name in an exhibit and insisted I use it. I'm a firm believer in signs, and everything that led up to that made me know that he was onto something.

So, now you know what happened today in our world of intrigue and magic and supernatural power. We love what we do, and love sharing it with others. Helping people feel better in every way is our greatest reward. There's nothing like hearing a story of how our work has changed lives. It's unmistakeably magic, and I can't wait to wake up in the morning and do it again.

Slice of Heaven

The best fried pickles on the planet are at Square Burger. The hand in the picture belongs to a beautiful young woman named Amy. I took a picture of her, but you can't see her at all. So, Amy, at least your hand and your pickle made it to the web. Her friend, Mike, called the pickles sticks of dynamite.
And here's Mike demonstrating the proper way to eat one of those pickles. If you can't see it, it's because it's eaten.

Amy, Mike, and Seth were from Dallas, I believe. I was on my second glass of wine by the time they bellied up to the bar, so I'm thinking that's what they told me. The bar has two love stools on the end, large enough for three women per stool, according to the men from Square Burger. We obliged them last night.
The only thing I can see in this picture is my own white shirt, but here are six of us cuddled up together. Marly was hoping for a pillow fight. He wanted us to discuss it in detail in front of him. I'm not sure why that's such a male fantasy because I don't think I've ever been in a pillow fight.
That's Marly and Lauren. You can tell when I first arrived at Square Burger because it was still light outside. The pictures where you can't see squat are the ones taken after dark. One of these days I am going to locate the flash on my phone...

Also, notice the popcorn in front of Lauren. That's Square Burger's form of crack. I don't care how low my appetite is, when I see that popcorn I can't stop eating. Kym, Marly, and Lauren will attest to that one.

Here's another drug of choice from Square Burger -- Marly's coffee. Oh my god! I don't know what he puts in it, but it's the best coffee I've ever had, and believe me I've had PLENTY! Brandon told me it was made by Clay Island, and the brand was Sumatra. Don't know if the spelling's correct, but just to let you know that after just a few sips I could leap tall buildings in a single bound.

Here's Alyssa's special dinner that Gnoc and Craig fixed for her. Salmon burger patty topped with fillet of smoked salmon and salmon caviar with a side of green salad tower, tomatoes, pita bread, le jardine cheese, and creamy dill sauce. AND, it was a major slice of heaven!
Gnoc also made us her unbelievable cinnamon and sugar fritters again. This time she made a chocolate and citrus ganache with homemade whipped cream. I'm holding the plate in the picture above, and just looking at it right now makes my mouth water and my heart beat faster. Craig and Gnoc, thank you both so much for treating us so well and making us feel so amazingly special. Your food is beyond compare.

Last night was not the easiest night of my life, and Brandon, Craig, and Gnoc made it so memorable with their kindness and their fabulous food. I really am so grateful to them for not only opening Square Burger, but placing it directly between my studio and the spa. Not only are they three of the most talented people on earth, but also the nicest. What a privilege to call them family.

Love My Buzz

Thursday nights on the square is Open Mic Night at Cadillac's with Buzz Andrews. Buzz was one of the very first people I met when I moved here almost two years ago. I've been his stalker ever since. He even wrote a song about Jill the stalker, and one time last year he sang You Look Wonderful Tonight to me. However, I think he'd be the first to say that I'm really sucking at stalking lately. I apologize, Buzz. I'll see what I can do to up my game on that one.
There are soooo many things to love about McKinney. I've just added two more -- Tammy Davis and Square Burger. Tammy Davis is the latest addition to RejuveNation LifeSpa. She's an aromatherapist among many other things. She bottled sex one night, and I decided to see what my chances were in finding someone who matched my body chemistry. Fascinating experiment and I so enjoyed the results. Since it's RejveNation LifeSpa's first anniversary this week, there will be many activities, one being Sex on the Square. I'm not sure if that's what they're calling it, but I'm partial to the name.

The picture of Tammy and me was taken at Cadillac's because it was a Buzz Andrews night and I needed to get my buzz on. However, one thing I discovered after all my tastings at Square Burger is that I'm not so much a Bud Light fan anymore. I missed my UFO draft. So what's a girl to do when she's not at Square Burger? Who else sells UFO? It's not only the selection of beer on tap at Square Burger that's so fabulous, but also the food prepared by St. Craig. He has to be a saint to make food taste like manna from heaven. Thank God, Square Burger's just down the street from me. I can look out the window to check out how crowded it is before bellying up to the bar. Oh my god! Life is so damn good!Square Burger on Urbanspoon

Tasting Paradise

I have no sense of taste or smell since inhaling a product like Comet Cleanser when I was a baby. Chemical burns took care of taste buds and whatever's needed in the nose for smelling. That being said, if I don't write about my lunch yesterday at Square Burger, I'm going to explode.

I ate the turkey burger and COULD TASTE IT! If you've always been able to taste food, this may not have any significance to you, but for me, it opened up a whole new world. It gave orgasmic experiences a new flavor for me. I've never eaten so slowly in my life. I didn't want it to end. The texture of the meat with the taste of its juices rendered me speechless, but I have to say, I tingled from the top of my head all the way to my toes with every bite I swallowed.

Square Burger on UrbanspoonI found out that the meat offered at Square Burger is grass-fed beef and pastured chickens. Now, I'm not sure where they get their turkey or salmon, but if they do that for beef and chicken I can just imagine how well loved and nurtured their turkey and salmon are. Let's just say that my taste buds can tell the difference between drugged animal meat and drug free. There's a huge party in my mouth when pulling an organic carrot out of the ground and snapping off the tip with my teeth, and there's just no one home when a store-bought nonorganic anything is eaten.

And then last night we had a business meeting at Square Burger with my daughter and her partners at RejuveNation LifeSpa. First thing we tried was the smoked salmon blinis. Oh my god, the chef should be knighted for sainthood! The description on the menu read: waffle fries with yogurt cream, smoked wild king salmon, salmon pearls, red onion, chives. I ate a masterpiece of culinary sensations that exploded in my mouth. Not only could I feel the round smoothness of the pearls and the dips and curves of the fries, but I could taste the salmon! I don't have words for what it tastes like, and I'm not sure I could get that explicit about how it made my body feel, so let's just say that it's an experience I would love to explore again.

What's Not to LOVE About McKinney?

I've just had the most amazing day of my life right here in McKinney.

It started when I was driving my car out onto W. Virginia from my daughter's office, RejuveNation LifeSpa and two police officers on horseback pulled me over into a parking lot. Looking out of my rolled-down window high up to the face of the sweetest looking police officer, and I mean that in oh so many ways, I told him I knew why he pulled me over. Expired registration and expired inspection. Two citations later, they asked me if I had a driver's license because it wasn't coming up on the Texas site. Well...it's still Colorado, not even Steamboat Springs, but Longmont, where I lived another lifetime ago. Hey, listen, my license says it expires in 2012, why do I need another one? I didn't leave the country, just the state. I've lived in Colorado most of my adult life. I've had a Texas license for the two years I drove in Texas and ever since it's been Colorado. Oh lord...

So, after not being hand cuffed or arrested for a felony, which is what bribing a police officer is in this state, I spent my afternoon getting my car legal again in Texas. The people that work here are extraordinary! Lesleigh at the registration place was nice and friendly and just wonderful enough to hug if it weren't for the plate glass that divided us. And then there was Heather at the place I had to go to pay the citations. She apologized for the wait and then let me know she couldn't take care of me today because the tickets hadn't been processed. So, she's going to call me after they are and I'll give her a credit card number so I don't have to come back in! How nice is that???

Let's not forget the guy at FastLane who engineered my inspection. He made sure we were in and out of there so my daughter could get back to do her surgery at 2:15. She's a chiropractor and surgery with a scalpel wasn't on her list to do today, but it sure did hurry up the inspection and I did get her to her office for the next patient.

And then I went to the Department of Public Safety to get my license. When I handed the clerk my driver's license, she was floored that it was a Longmont one. She used to own a shop in Longmont. She told me which one. I told her where it was located because I was one of her customers!!! Right then and there we bonded like long-lost sisters.

And to think, it all started with the mounted patrolmen. They are also the ones in my daughter's photograph that hangs in her spa. These women tried for at least a half hour to just get their rhythm down, and they just couldn't do it. That is, until the two horses and the riders stepped across W. Virginia. It was a proud moment for all.

And even after receiving the tickets, I told the officers to come see my daughter for massages and chiropractic adjustments on the house. This time though my offer was not considered a felony. The citations were already in my hand.

Start spreading the news...

I always use this blog for showcasing pictures of what goes on around the square in downtown McKinney, but today there are no pictures because my computer is on the fritz and I don't know how to download and upload pics on my daughter's computer. So there.

That being said, I have to write about my life in the square this weekend, particularly last night.

When all the patients from RejuveNation LifeSpa had left last evening, the place just felt a little too quiet for me. My daughter had a date for the weekend, and I chose to spend the weekend on the square. I poured myself a cup of wine, enjoying the night breeze. I hardly had a chance to get comfy in my chair when along came a dear sweet friend, Sonja, the streetwalker that she is. She joined me in some wine and then we were joined by Michelle and her husband. The conversation took place in RejuveNation on the comfy couch in the back talking about quantum physics and Michelle's magic machine.

Sonja and I eventually made our way down to Landon's Winery and thoroughly enjoyed the live music outside. We had a glass of Yellow Rose and basked in the cool night air. And then Jim joined us.

We walked down the block to Cadillac's to listen to Quentin Hope. He was playing with a guy named Alan who ripped a mean electric guitar. The drummer and bass were exceptional. I apologize for not getting their names because I highly recommend listening to these guys any chance you might get. It was pure magic.

After more wine and beer, Jim, Sonja, and I went to the new Churchill's where I met the new owner. What an absolute sweetheart! Maria Britton, I believe is her name. She gave me her card, but somehow I didn't have it when I got up this morning. Keesha was the exceptional bartender who took great care of us, and we got to talk with our friend Lorenzo. What I learned about Lorenzo a few weeks ago is what a mean bongo drum player he is. I'm sure there's a more accurate term for that, but at the moment that's the best I can do. I'm still feeling the effects of all those lovely glasses of wine I had last night at all those fabulous bars I went to. What I learned last night is that there are no strangers here. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and willing to add to our fun level exponentially.

Back at the Spa, Jim, Sonja, and I sat for a while outside before calling it a night. Apparently bar hopping in the square is not uncommon. I just hadn't done it before. I loved meeting new friends and picking up "old" ones along the way. The music...what can I say? I love the music here in this town. You can't beat The Caddy for the best musicians. And Landon's had a female phenom playing last night. She even sang "New York, New York" or whatever the title is to that song. You know which one I mean. Who knew that I'd hear that song in a small Texas town? One of my favorite old songs, and one of my favorite places in the world.

However, McKinney, Texas is ranking way up there to be the most favorite place to live and love. For me, this town is not only a great place to live, but the loving comes so easily. My cup truly runneth over...

Thirsty Thursdays

At The RejuveNation LifeSpa the very first Thirsty Thursday took place on July 9th. Thank you to everyone who participated. Amber Palmer with SkyWolfe Photopgraphy took pictures, so you'll be able to see what a professional can do after viewing these.

To your left is Dr. Alyssa Summey doing her Coyote Ugly in black scrubs. Watching from below is Maria Elizabeth Alvarez. And yes, this was at the end of the night.

Thirsty Thursdays are Thursday evenings at RejuveNation LifeSpa where the practitioners explain what it is they do and what services they offer, at least the first Thirsty Thursday was like that.

I'm not sure what will be happening during the next ones.

Silky and Tom Michero are standing next to the fabulous photographer, Amber, and Cindy Goldman, who teaches yoga, does sound healing, and offers nutritional support. Cindy went to Mannatech's headquarters in Coppell to retrieve all the beautiful signs and the nutritional supplement samples that graced The Gratitude Cafe, the front room of The RejuveNation LifeSpa.

Silky will be teaching expressive arts in The Gratitude Cafe, and Tom has promised to play drums while Silky instructs dancing. We talked about doing trans dancing. For those who haven't experienced it, I highly recommend it. I did it at a James Arthur Ray event in California last spring, and it was amazing. And don't count on me getting that spelling right on trans (or is it trance?) dancing. I'm not into accuracy as much as I am in getting a story out there.

Towards the end of the evening Shannon Cole stopped in. Shannon gives carriage rides around McKinney. She's so knowledgeable about the history of McKinney, especially the ghost stuff. You'll never learn the things she'll teach you about this town's history from anyone else. I highly recommend a tour with Shannon and her horses.

And standing next to her are Dr. Alyssa Summey, Cindy Goldman, and Michelle Barr, the three practitioners that serve the community like no others. Really, be so good to yourself and book appointments with them today. The office number is 972-838-1313, and if you can't get anyone there, feel free to call Alyssa at 720-254-8108.

And of course, after a night of partying at The RejuveNation LifeSpa, we headed over to Cadillac Pizza Pub for great local talent. Pictured here is one of my very favorites, Buzz Andrews. I swear to God, I could listen to him play and sing all night long. He told me that I'd probably have the time of my life with a variety pack of cereal too.

I love you, Buzz!

And before they left for the night, Michelle and Alyssa were captured at the bar.

It had been a long day, a wonderful night, and a lovely time with amazing people.

Thank you to everyone who shared the evening with us and to all who have given so selflessly to make this dream come true. We are so grateful to each one of you. It's just the beginning, and we're so happy to be together on the square.

Photography at RejuveNation

Jennifer Cox is the master behind the camera taking amazing photos of Dr. Alyssa Summey, Cindy Goldman, and Michelle Barr.

These photos were taken in The Gratitude Cafe, the front room of RejuveNation LifeSpa, a wellness gallery.

They were posing for their first ad ever. It will be appearing in McKinney Women magazine. The LifeSpa just opened this month. Alyssa just signed the lease the night after the first of many Thirsty Thursdays. So, for those of you really getting this, Alyssa had an ad ready for publication in a magazine and had the first party in her space without even signing the lease. Hm, interesting huh? I love how my daughter plays.

The women in black are are Michelle, Alyssa, and Cindy. So, now you can put the beautiful faces with the names and when you stop in, you'll know who they are. And you're bound to stop in eventually if you haven't already because it's really the place to be. It's across from Mama Emilia's on W. Virginia right off the square.

The RejuveNation LifeSpa phone number is 972-838-1313. The voicemail hasn't been set up yet, so if they're not there, you may not be able to leave a message. Hang in there with us though because it is so well worth it!

And thank you, Jennifer, for such a great time and beautiful pictures!
